Why SMILE costs the same as LASIK at CCRS.
Some practices price SMILE above LASIK, treating it as a premium tier. We do not, for a straightforward reason: if SMILE is the safer procedure for your eyes, price should not be the thing that pushes you toward the alternative.
SMILE uses a single laser platform — the ZEISS VisuMax® — rather than the two-laser sequence LASIK requires. The consumable and licensing costs are comparable overall, so charging a premium would be a positioning decision rather than a cost-driven one.
What SMILE does differently: no corneal flap is created. A small lenticule is removed through a tiny incision, preserving more corneal nerve tissue. That typically means less post-operative dry eye, and there is no flap that could ever be displaced by impact — which matters for contact-sport athletes. More than 90% of our SMILE patients reached 20/20 or better across 250 consecutive eyes.

Flap-free correction through a small incision. Often the better choice if you have dry eye tendencies or play contact sports. Corrects myopia with or without astigmatism.
LASIK — $4,000 both eyes
Same price. Slightly faster visual recovery and a wider treatment range, including farsightedness, which SMILE does not currently treat.
EVO ICL — from $6,000 both eyes
If your prescription is beyond laser range or your corneas are too thin for either laser procedure, EVO ICL becomes the safe option.
Financing, FSA and HSA.
0% interest financing through CareCredit — a $4,000 package is $66.67 a month over 60 months. FSA and HSA pre-tax dollars are accepted.
Most health insurance plans do not cover elective vision correction, but FSA and HSA funds apply, many vision plans offer member discounts, and monthly financing including zero-interest options is available.

Generally no, because it is elective. However SMILE is an eligible FSA and HSA expense, so you can use pre-tax dollars, and many vision plans provide member discounts. CCRS offers 0% financing through CareCredit.
Is SMILE worth the cost compared to contacts?
A contact lens wearer spends roughly $400 to $700 a year on lenses, solution, exams and backup glasses. Over ten years that is $4,000 to $7,000. SMILE at CCRS is $4,000 once.
What if I am not a SMILE candidate?
